10. Brendan Adams – 7’8
Born in 1995, Brendan Adams stands 7 feet and 8 inches tall. His parents first noticed the difference in his body when he was two months old. He had an inversion in his 12th chromosome at birth, which is a very rare condition that will often cause extreme growth in a person. By the time Brendan had turned eight years old, he was 5 feet and 8 inches tall, but by the time he was 11, he was well over six feet tall. He was also given the title of being the World’s Tallest Teenager until 2015, when he was surpassed by another teenage boy. In 2008, his family did not think, he would ever stop growing, but doctors managed to use high dose testosterone to stop his growth, which put him at 7’8. Brendan stands at number ten on the list of The Tallest Man in the World.
9. Broc Brown – 7’8
Broc Brown, a giant in his community, in Jackson, Michigan, stands at 7 feet and 8 inches tall. He also suffers from Sotos Syndrome, which is known as a cerebral gigantism. With Sotos Syndrome, has become a disorder that affects one in every 15,000 people. However, for many people, the disorder does not last for too long, and many people usually end up at normal height, but as for Broc by the time he was five years old, he was 5 feet and two inches tall.
Broc has not stopped growing either, and grows up to six inches a year. Although he has medical issues because of the curvature of his spine, the doctors, who once believed he would not survive in his teenage years, now believe he will live to have a regular life span. Broc Brown is number nine on the list of being The Tallest Man in the World.
8. Sun Mingming – 7’9
Sun Mingming a professional Chinese basketball player, towers at 7 feet and 9 inches tall. Born in a small town in Bayan County, Harbin in Heilongjang Province, China, Sun started playing basketball when he was 15 years old. He is currently in the Guinness World Records as the tallest professional basketball player in the world. In 2005, Sun, discovered that he had a benign tumor in his pituitary gland, but because it was $100,000 to remove, his sports agent had to start a fundraiser, but later that year, he successfully had the tumor removed. Since then, Sun and his wife Xu Yan has won the title in the Guinness World’s Record as the tallest married couple in the world. Sun has also had several television appearances and even appeared in the Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker movie flick, Rush Hour 3. Sun Mingming is number eight on the list of being The World’s Tallest Man.
7. Bao Xishun – 7’9 ¼
Born in Inner Mongolia, China, Bao Xishun stands at a little over 7 feet and 9 inches tall. He was given the title of the world’s tallest man in 2006 by the Guinness World Records and held the title until 2009. Bao did not start to grow at an enormous rate until he turned 16. Although he suffers from rheumatism, he has worked in a hospital, served in the People’s Liberation Army, and even assisted veterinarians by removing shards of plastic from the stomachs of two dolphins by reaching into their stomachs and pulling it out. In 2007, he married his wife, Xia Shujuan and his son was born in 2008. Bao even appeared in an episode of The Amazing Race 16 as a pitstop greeter. Bao Xishun is at number seven on the list of being The Tallest Man in the World.
6. Ajaz Ahmed – 7’11
Ijaz Ahmed, also known as Ajaz Ahmed, is a Pakistani farmer and stands tall at seven feet and 11 inches. He suffers from a hormonal dysfunction and even though he claims to be the tallest man in the world, he has never confirmed it with Guinness World Records officials. Ajaz claims to be 8 feet and 4 inches tall, but because he has never tried to confirm this with the Guinness World Records officials, his height is believed to be 7 feet and 11 inches. He also suffers from an orthopaedic problem that causes his right leg to be shorter than his left and now has to wear custom made shoes to balance him out. Ajaz Ahmed is number six on the list of being The Tallest Man in the World.
5. Zhang Juncai – 7’11 ¼
Standing at 7 feet and 11 ¼ inches tall, Zhang Juncai is seen as one of the tallest living people in the world. He is from Shanxi Province, China, but little is known about when he was born. It is believed that he was born anywhere between 1967 and 1983. However, he does not like the limelight, like the rest of the fellow giants, and seems to steer clear of it. Zhang is the fifth Tallest Man in the World on the list.
4. Dharmendra Pratrap Singh – 8’1
Dharmendra Pratrap Singh is a very well educated Indian man, who stands at 8 feet and 1 inch tall. He is from Uttar Pradesh in India and he has a MA degree in Hindi literature. During all of the years of his life he has suffered from a variety of ailments, but the disorder that caused hi`m to grow so tall is the rare disorder called, acromegaly. He also has diabetes, headaches, laxity of joints, and abnormally large extremities. Even though, he is a sight to see, Dharmendra has confessed to having problems finding a girlfriend as well as stable employment. He has stated that he can only find a job working in carnivals, where the tourists take pictures with him, but because of this he cannot afford treatment for his medical issues. Dharmendra is a very tall man and he shows it being number four on the list of The Tallest Man in the World.
3. Morteza Mehrzad – 8’1 ¼
Known as the tallest man in Iran, Morteza Mehrzad, towers at 8 feet and 1 ¼ inch tall. He is also known as the world’s tallest paralympian. Born in 1987, Morteza was not born with any gigantism disorder. It was only after he had an accident on his bike at the age of 16 and injured his pelvis, that he began to grow abnormally. Unfortunately, along with his abnormal growth, his right leg is six inches shorter than his left and he needs assistance to walk everywhere he goes. Even though he does have the issues with his legs, he is a very well known paralympian in Iran and has won an Olympic Gold medal in sitting volleyball, in 2016. He now coaches other future hopeful paralympians in the sport. This gold medal athlete is number three on the Tallest Man in the World list.
2. Brahim Takioullah – 8’1 ¼
Moroccan born, Brahim Takioullah stands at 8 feet and 1 ¼ inch tall. Unlike many of the other giants in the world, Brahim had a normal childhood, until he was 13. He suffers from acromelagy, but he does not have problems with his mobility like many of the other gigantic people. Brahim is known for having the largest feet in the world. Brahim has received a degree in Geography. He has also worked as a model and is currently trying to break into show business. This giant is number two on the Tallest Man in the World list.
1. Sultan Kosen – 8’3
Sultan Kosen, a man from Turkey is the tallest man alive and the fifth tallest human to have been known to have lived in history. His growth was affected because of a tumor on his pituitary gland. Even though Sultan underwent surgery to have the tumor removed, it took two years afterwards for him to stop growing. However, because of his tall stature, he has to use crutches. Since taking the title of the tallest man in the world in 2009, it has also been recorded that he has the biggest hands in the world. The woman who is enjoying his time and giant heart, is his wife, Merve Dibo, who is Syrian born. Sultan recently joined the Magic Circus of Samoa and participates in shows around the world. Since taking the title in 2009, Sultan has enjoyed being a main attraction for the world to see.
Over the years, people have seen differences in others that has attracted the world. Whether it has been one of the tallest people in the world, the smallest person in the world, or conjoined twins, the world has accepted different in a beautiful way.
